OUR CRAFT

Our process is one from the old school where doing things by hand and handling the wood while crafting it lends a great deal of satisfaction. Sometimes while sanding and grooming the wood you see characteristics in the grain that tell you to keep sanding and keep polishing until it speaks to you. Unlike metal, plastic, and other manmade materials, wood and rock are natural and organic by nature. When paired together in various forms and alterations each of our signature pocket slates become unique and different in appearance and sound. Our call making process is done with reverence and respect for all the pioneers that laid the groundwork for the rest of us. Through timeless interpretation our visions turn into realistic sounding turkey calls. We believe that less is more and the oldest gobblers like soft, clear sounds in the woods.

We like to experiment with many different types of wood. However, our founder, Al Chapman, likes working with Cedar and Walnut the best because they are natural and native to the area he grew up in. In fact, His first calls were Made from walnut.
